Sinead Trainor, kitchen category manager at leading British kitchen company LochAnna Kitchens, reveals five key trends set to shape kitchen design in 2025.

“Kitchen design in 2024 has largely been driven by a growing desire for spaces that offer a perfect balance of style, functionality, and personalisation,” says Sinead. “In 2025, we predict that homeowners will gravitate toward sleeker, slimline shaker cabinetry and embrace a shift toward timeless heritage hues; subtle yet impactful design choices that enhance, rather than replace some of the macro trends seen over the past few years,” she adds. “Elsewhere, bespoke design elements are becoming the norm as homeowners seek spaces that are more representative of their needs through enduring designs that stand the test of time.”

Slimming the shaker

Shaker kitchens remain popular and are set to return in 2025 but with a minimalistic twist. Shaker kitchens have been popular for centuries, and their ability to create a timeless base for any kitchen endures. However, recently, more homeowners are opting for the shaker’s slim sister, better aligning with modern, minimalist aesthetics and creating the illusion of more space. The skinny shaker offers a more modern design aesthetic whilst effectively bridging the gap between classic and contemporary styles and maintaining an accessibility cost wise. 

‘Bespoke’ as the standard

Today’s homeowners are eager for kitchens that work hard for their personal needs, driving demand for unique designs that reflect individual lifestyles. We predict that bespoke (or bespoke-like) kitchens will become the go-to choice for homeowners. The integration of tailored elements has become a standard expectation, with features like pantries, larders, pull-out storage, and dedicated chopping board units becoming increasingly popular.

Pastel power

Pastel styles are back in fashion; pale yellow, powder blues and soft pinks were a popular trend in the 1950s and we are already starting to see them making a comeback.  Pastels are perfect for those who want to introduce eye catching colours into their kitchen but are hesitant to commit to anything too vibrant; pastel colours allow the perfect transitional solution to create a timeless piece whilst still having a wow factor. 

Stations upon stations

At LochAnna, we are seeing more homeowners wanting to create focal points within their kitchens, such as coffee stations, breakfast dressers, and drinks stations.  Within this trend is a growing contrast between wanting to hide day to day appliances, like microwaves tucked away in cabinetry, and designing spaces specifically to show off statement appliances, such as luxury coffee machines, reflecting a shift towards solutions that don’t hinder functionality.

Designing for Life

The current economic climate is steering homeowners towards more long-term kitchen designs, as many plan to update their kitchens less frequently due to rising costs. This “improve, don’t move” mentality prioritises timelessness and adaptability, with a focus on cohesive living spaces that extend beyond the kitchen.
