When looking for a new or replacement stove, there are plenty of practical and aesthetic elements to consider – the heat output, the ease of installation and the overall design. But now it’s time to make sure your next stove is also Ecodesign Ready. Designed to reduce PM (particle matter) emissions by burning wood more efficiently and completely, Mendip’s Ecodesign Ready models are future-proof and eco-friendly, meeting the emissions and efficiency criteria for Ecodesign which comes into effect in 2022.
“Whatever style of stove you’re looking for, it makes sense to move to an Ecodesign Ready model now,” says Chris Baines, managing director of Eurostove. “Air quality will be improved as wood is burned more efficiently, which in turn gives homeowners the cleanest, cosiest environment in which to spend time with family and friends. We are proud to do our part in helping consumers reduce emissions whilst burning a carbon neutral fuel.
Ecodesign is a European-wide programme to lower emissions and is due to come into force for stoves in the UK in 2022. A selection of Mendip stoves that meet these requirements are available to purchase now. The PM emissions limit for Ecodesign is 55 per cent lower than for DEFRA exempt stoves and Ecodesign Ready stoves can reduce particle emissions by 90 per cent compared to an open fire and 80 per cent compared to an old stove.

Mendip Stoves is also proud to work in collaboration with the Woodland Trust. For every stove sold, Mendip will donate £10 to the UK’s leading conservation charity. “Eurostove and Mendip Stoves are delighted to be working with the Woodland Trust,” adds Chris, “helping the charity to plant hundreds of trees. We have a huge commitment to being a sustainable business, which includes encouraging customers to use wood from sustainable sources. We see the Woodland Trust as being the perfect fit and are delighted that our support will see the planting and protection of trees across the UK.”

Over the last 40 years the Woodland Trust has planted over 23 million native trees. The £10 from every Mendip stove sold is enough to plant three native trees.
