Barista-quality coffee from Fisher & Paykel

Barista-quality coffee made in your own home

Skip the queues with barista-quality coffee from the comfort of your own home.

To the avid coffee drinker’s delight, coffee shops have reopened and are now offering takeaway drinks – but is it worth the long wait in queues? Fisher & Paykel’s latest innovation makes it easier than ever before to recreate the perfect cup of coffee from the comfort of your own home. Alex van Vliet, Market Product Manager, Fisher & Paykel explains how to make the perfect coffee with Fisher & Paykel’s brand-new, innovative coffee maker.

A lot goes on behind the scenes of a coffee shop; making and serving coffee is not too dissimilar to the fine craft of winemakers – temperature, storage and brewing are all critical to creating the perfect cup of coffee. Fisher & Paykel’s coffee machine couldn’t be easier to use – simply choose between the 13 default drink settings to suit your taste and selection, from espresso and americano to flat white, cappuccino and latte. Use the easy to use touchscreen interface to pick your desired drink and the machine will do the rest. You can even programme your coffee maker to start up at the same time every day and make your favourite coffee, avoiding the hassle of queues at coffee shops in the morning.

For the coffee connoisseur it is easy to create your own personal beverage with customised aroma, cup size and coffee grind to suit your preference. Up to six different personal profiles can be set and saved so you can create the perfect brew at the touch of a button.

The coffee grind
Why is the grind so important? A good grinder ensures the perfect texture for the coffee – fine grind for espresso, and courser for other coffees. Too fine and the coffee clumps together, too course and it doesn’t clump, delivering a coffee that is too weak. Too harsh a grind can also overheat the beans and impact the taste. The F&P coffee machine has a conical stainless steel grinder which will grind the coffee beans to a professional standard, delivering a consistent grind for the perfect coffee.

There are 13 adjustable grind settings to choose from depending on your preference as each coffee requires a different grind, but you can also use pre-ground coffee too!

Brewing
To correctly brew coffee is to allow the taste and temperature to be perfect for serving and maximise the flavour and drinking experience. The brewing process must include pre-infusion so the espresso and water can mix, and the pressure of the coffee machine must be between 9 and 12 BAR in order to create a barista-style espresso. The temperature of the water in the coffee maker should be between 88°C and 96°C when brewing which can be adjusted via the touchscreen interface. The coffee machine has two separate heating elements – one dedicated to coffee and one to steaming milk.

Steaming the milk
Fisher & Paykel’s coffee maker comes with a stainless-steel thermal milk jug. The milk foam dial can be adjusted to set the perfect consistency for all recipes, but milk should be heated to 60°C to bring out its sweetness and create a well-balanced beverage.

With the choice of stainless-steel or elegant black trim, this 60cm coffee maker is perfect for the compact kitchen and can be placed virtually anywhere. Companion products share standard dimensions and can be installed in multiple configurations to suit your kitchen design and preference.
