Tangram is a new kitchen range by Garcia Cumini for CESAR on show exclusively at Espresso Design, Chelsea Harbour Design Centre.
Tangram is inspired by the Chinese game of a collection of geometric shapes that can be combined to create different forms. Its use here is a reminder that kitchen furniture does not have to be rectangular or linear.
The Tangram collection comprises five curved elements that can be added to Cesar’s existing modules to create kitchen islands with unusual shapes. These compositions can be freestanding, wall-hung, or even wrapped around corners.
In design terms, these are not made up of simple semicircles or portions of circles, but instead follow a fixed radius that varies for every module. This introduces a new concept of sinuosity and fluidity in the kitchen design that allows us to adapt the form and function of each composition to the individual needs of the end user.
To complement the Tangram range, Cesar has introduced a new collection of fluted doors called Groove. The Groove door is made up of a sequence of vertical grooves which create an irregular three-dimensional pattern, designed to hide the joint between the modules and ensure a unitary perception of the entire arrangement. The irregular contours, the alternation between full and empty space, and the play of light and shadows conceal the openings of the doors, thus contributing to the final camouflaged effect.
The Tangram range is available in lacquer, structured lacquer, metallic lacquer and woods including Elm and Oak. Worktops are shown in leathered marble finishes – with a drip groove and Macaron detail on the leading edge. Handles are the new OI and Accento.
