Rahul Singh, the executive director of GlobalMedic, said there were 13.5 million Syrians affected by war and many of them has no secure source of food. GlobalMedic’s goal in this campaign was to create a tasty, familiar, nutritious meal that was easy to make and inexpensive to produce. “If you are someone who has just fled the shelling and have absolutely nothing but can grab a pot and some water, you can cook this food to keep your family alive,” he said.
Danby CEO Jim Estill has donated $1.5 million in sponsoring more than 85 refugee families, most of them coming from Syria. Led by generosity and his “do the right thing” spirit, Estill has been praised for his efforts both locally and abroad.
John Welbourn, who is spearheading the development of the Danby business across the UK and mainland Europe says “Consumers and our retail partners really appreciate how seriously Danby takes it’s corporate responsibility. The Danby strap line is ‘Do the Right Thing’ and this is just one of numerous projects that demonstrates how Jim Estill and the team in Canada express this philosophy. We look forward to being able to do similar things in Europe.”
