Dandy Smart Technology Alexa

Dandy from Scavolini now includes smart technology

Scavolini has updated its popular Dandy furniture range with the integration of smart technology. The Dandy Plus, kitchen, living room and bathroom furniture collections now feature built-in Amazon Alexa.

A new aluminium profile task bar now incorporates smart technology to allow users to communicate with a virtual assistant. According to Scavolini, Dandy Plus is the first kitchen, living room and bathroom furniture collection designed with built-in Amazon Alexa.

Fabiana Scavolini, CEO of Scavolini, says: “Our Made in Italy tradition, teamed with cutting-edge technological research, led to this extraordinary project, which looks to the near future while reinventing our past. The shapes of Dandy Plus bring to mind our best-selling model from the 1980s, Dandy, in a clear tribute to Italian design and a solution to the needs of consumers who are increasingly connected.

“In partnership with celebrated architect Fabio Novembre of Novembre Studio, we started by thinking about the increasing presence of technology in our everyday activities and in our homes. Dandy Plus is a smart, innovative and comprehensive project, designed for everyone who wants an all-over digital experience at home.”

In the kitchen-living room

Alexa is brought to the heart of the home via the Task Bar, which is secured to the wall and located above the hob in this kitchen (see top image). Keen cooks will have Alexa on hand to control WiFi-enabled appliances, order up a new playlist or adjust lighting levels. The Task Bar also houses plug sockets and USB ports for convenient charging. And, in the style of a traditional hanging rail, a series of accessories, including shelves and containers, can be hung from it, keeping the worktop below clutter-free.

The doors in this kitchen are Coal Oak veneer and Flint Grey melamine, with Pure White bridge element and a Mustard Yellow matt lacquer sideboard.

In the bathroom
Crossing into the bathroom, the Task Bar can be located above the vanity top. Contained within is a smart speaker, so you can listen to your favourite tunes, catch up on current affairs in the shower or ask Alexa to dim the lights at bath time.  The Task Bar can once again be fitted with a series of accessories, including shelves, towel rails and soap holders, as well as LED lights recessed along its length. This bathroom has an aluminium Task Bar and Oak veneer vanity unit with Prestige White handles.

Dandy Plus has a fresh modern feel with curved corners and a distinctive ‘bridge’ design that wraps around the units. The bridge element in Grey Plus and featured on the Dandy Plus kitchen in Pure White.

Scavolini has introduced five colours for all the customisable elements such as handles and buttons – Coral Red (shown), Mustard Yellow, Agave Blue, Prestige White and Slate Black – supplemented by Aluminium and Bronze (for handles only).
