Fisher & Paykel collaborates with architects

“Fisher & Paykel collaborates closely with architects, developers, interior designers and specifiers worldwide to integrate our appliances more seamlessly into the design process”, says Mark Elmore, F&P’s General Manager, Design. “These partnerships have led us to create our Kitchen Tools website for Architects and Designers, which houses a wealth of case studies detailing the inspirational design outcomes produced by some of these collaborations as well as appliance CAD files for use within the design process”.

Fisher & Paykel has also initiated a series of Future Design Workshops in its Experience Centres, hosting leading architects and designers to engage in conversations around design with senior designers and the design industry. These workshops ensure F&P is absolutely on the same page as the architects and designers who are faced with the challenges the changing kitchen of today brings.

“We complement this with a strong presence at key global shows, from EuroCucina in Milan to the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show and International Builders’ Show which took place in Las Vegas in February this year. Here, alongside a specially curated selection of premium built-in appliances, our senior industrial designers meet with the design community to share insights, discuss social kitchen experiences and design philosophy and to share views on trends”, explains Mark Elmore.

Design trends have brought elements of the professional kitchen into the domestic kitchen but some of the design parameters can be quite different. The professional kitchen is often simple, built around reliability and efficiency of use, whereas the domestic kitchen has to be quite flexible, doing many things well.

The design team at F&P work tirelessly to identify weaknesses in conventional kitchen and laundry design and resolve them in innovative ways that solve problems for the design community. “Our kitchen products are consciously designed to match each other across the range, with stainless steel surrounds and black glass touch-control panels that complement modern, uncluttered design trends. Design and construction professionals can specify Fisher & Paykel appliances throughout their projects without compromising on quality, functionality or aesthetic considerations,” says Mark Elmore.

Keeping the design dialogue going is a key element in F&P’s strategy to ensure it is best placed as the appliance brand of choice for premium architects and designers.  Last month the company hosted a highly successful Design Event at New Zealand born partner chef Peter Gordon’s restaurant The Providores in London. Here F&P’s lead Designer Mark Elmore talked with guests from the world of architecture, design, kitchen retail as well as key media such as Wallpaper* and home interiors editors about the changing role of the kitchen and F&P’s design philosophy.

“The Social Kitchen philosophy remains at the forefront of the trends influencing modern interior design and construction, and we continue our active collaboration with architects, developers, designers, and specifiers to ensure our products continue to meet their needs as well as those of our customers,” says Mark Elmore.
