The Formica Group has won Procurement Team of the Year – Small Teams in the annual CIPS Supply Management Awards 2019. The award recognises procurement best practice and rewards those teams who have improved their performance and culture.

The judges commended the Formica Group team for their impact on a company facing significant challenges during turnaround. A new European procurement director was engaged to transform the team into a value-focused strategic team positively driving change. The culture was improved and external best practice brought in, gaining credibility and top-down endorsement of its 12-month strategy.

The judging panel says: ‘There was the opportunity to establish great procurement at the heart of the turnaround. New leadership, clear strategy and plan, re-engagement with a sceptical business…result.’ Phil Hicks, European Procurement Director at Formica Group Europe, comments: ‘I am really proud of what our team has achieved. Everyone feels energised by the success and we’ve delivered a great impact and fundamentally changed the perception of procurement in our business. The team have worked really hard and deserve this accolade.’

The winners were announced at the CIPS Supply Management Awards ceremony at Grosvenor house London, Wednesday 11th September.
