Based on a recent survey*, the findings reveal how renovation professionals – from builders and architects to interior designers – can better support clients throughout their home improvement journeys.
Creating a good first impression
The Houzz report shows that first impressions are crucial in the renovation process. Nearly half of homeowners (49%) cite difficulty in finding a trustworthy professional as a major obstacle, while 34% are challenged by the lack of clear, detailed quotes. Meanwhile, 30% mention poor or inconsistent communication as a source of frustration early on.
The data suggest that homeowners value clarity and confidence from the outset. Professionals who offer transparent pricing, prompt communication, and a clear overview of each project stage are more likely to win trust and secure work.
Communication and clarity define success
As the renovation progresses, homeowners become even more focused on communication and project transparency. According to the survey, 31% would have preferred more frequent updates from their chosen professionals, and 17% expressed a need for clearer timelines.
Visual planning, cost transparency, and ongoing communication are now essential elements of a successful renovation experience. Homeowners want to feel involved and informed, with clear visibility of both design progress and budget implications.
