Kitchen Trends Wickes Chester Forest Green

Kitchen trends to suit every style

As we continue to spend more time at home now than ever before, and our kitchens become increasingly multi-functional, there are plenty of ways to inject new life into the heart of the home.

Here, Wickes looks ahead to the trends that are set to be big this year, whilst also looking back at trends that have shaped the kitchens of today, including scandi interiors and handleless cabinets.

Greens and Blues

Deep, earthy blues and greens will remain a popular choice for kitchen cabinetry this year, adding a modern twist to a classic style. The Milton Midnight range is an optimal choice with a rich navy colourway and deep charcoal undertones. Following the success of the launch, the range has developed to include further colourways. Equally, Wickes’ Chester Forest Green kitchen was launched in 2020; and will help restore a sense of calm in the kitchen through its natural tones.

Calming Paint Schemes

Soft greys, such as Pantone’s Colour of the Year – Ultimate Grey – and pink shades, such as Wickes Poetic Pink (no. 605), will create a serene yet refreshing feel in the home. Pairing light pink walls with darker cabinets, such as blues and greys will create a warm feel.

Veined Marble

White veined marble, with grey and brown hues will remain sought-after in 2021, with both bolder and subtle veined designs proving popular.

Statement Accessories and Finishing Touches

It’s personal finishing touches that make a kitchen. Pendant lighting and unique cabinet door fixtures can add character to a room, especially when placed around a focal point – such as an island.

Not forgetting statement accessories, such as industrial-looking taps, which are a great way to complement a space – both the trend towards gold and black colourways are set to remain popular in 2021. Sticking to a theme and replicating the look via hinges and handles will create a consistent feel throughout the kitchen.

Multi-functional Spaces

With more people working from home and looking to create dedicated workspaces, multi-functional spaces will become an increasingly popular consideration. The use of screens, quiet appliances (to limit distractions), cabinetry, and plants to create dedicated zones will allow people to transition harmoniously between work and leisure. Wickes’ new range of fitted home offices provides a modern solution by integrating multi-purpose desk spaces into its kitchen designs – ideal for those with little to no workspace who still want dedicated hubs.

Concealed Appliances and Fridges and Ovens

The trend towards concealed and integrated appliances is expected to grow, as people opt for a streamlined finish which doesn’t impact the style of their kitchen. Concealed and integrated appliances work for kitchens of all sizes, but particularly smaller kitchens, where surface area is limited, as they sit where cupboards would, so help to save space and make a kitchen feel bigger. Opting for handleless cabinets, such as Wickes’ Intelliga range, and wireless chargers in your kitchen will remove clutter and help to create a seamless feel.

From fridges to ovens, consumers will now be able to remotely control and manage a variety of kitchen appliances, making them innovative, smart, and efficient – in terms of energy saving and for those who are short on time.

Clever Storage Solutions

Whether your kitchen is big or small, investing in clever storage solutions will help maximise space – whether you opt for pull out shelving that can be used in corner cupboards, internal bins, pantry products or cutlery storage, there’s a storage solution for everyone.

Whatever you opt for, Wickes has a range of kitchens to suit every style and budget. To help bring their new kitchen to life,  customers can explore an entire virtual showroom with helpful descriptions here.
