Moores win RoSPA award for outstanding health & safety

For the 23rd consecutive year, kitchen manufacturer Moores has been awarded The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Order of Distinction for health and safety, achieving a gold standard within the manufacturing industry sector.

The largest occupational health and safety awards programme, RoSPA has an impressive legacy spanning 68 years and has become a sought-after accolade for manufacturers across the globe. With almost 2,000 entries annually from over 50 countries, impacting over seven million employees, they offer a platform to spotlight an unwavering commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in health and safety.

A demonstration of the company’s dedication to ensuring all employees are operating in a safe environment, Moores has always put its people and customers first by monitoring its health and safety processes and seeking new ways to improve performance.

Moores work to their SPACE principles, which consider Simplicity, Pride, Accountability, Collaboration and Expertise. This involves eliminating complexity through simple processes, taking pride in supporting colleagues to openly engage in health and safety programmes, holding accountability for keeping everyone safe, and maintaining these principles with collaboration and expertise to get things done right.

One initiative which significantly contributed towards this year’s RoSPA success, was the collaboration between the operational and management teams. By setting up weekly Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) tours, those responsible for health and safety were able to actively engage with the workforce and receive firsthand feedback on systems and procedures which are working well or need improvement. This approach restored a dynamic that had been impacted by the COVID years, reinstating a dialog for continuous development.

Kevin Bell, Health and Safety Manager at Moores comments: “The RoSPA award scheme acts as a benchmark to measure our health and safety performance against the best within the manufacturing industry sector. It gives me an immense sense of pride to exceed the gold standard and gain such recognition within our sector. The award is something we can hold up personally and organisationally and say what we do does count and does make a difference.”
