Simple lines and citrus colours define the new, playful AM 01 kitchen from the Sanwa Company, designed by Alessandro Mendini in partnership with Francesco Mendini and Andrea Balzari. The range of finishes used, such as silk-screened glass and stainless steel, include the Solid Surface HI-MACS®, an innovative high-performance material used to create the countertop.
The stamp of Alessandro Mendini, one of the most pioneering and well-known figures of the Made in Italy design, is also evident in this new, creative and inspirational project. AM 01 is a brightly coloured monolith with a big personality that contains all its functional elements (sink, oven, hob, extractor hood and several spacious compartments) in a width of just 120 cm, making it ideal for a wide variety of uses, from a small apartment to an office.
Another great feature of this micro-kitchen is its wardrobe structure, which, thanks to two decorative doors, allows you to close and conceal the kitchen completely from view when not in use.
The HI-MACS® countertop, produced by fabricator Simone Piva, is at the heart of this kitchen. due to its smooth and completely non-porious top, HI-MACS® is a resistant material often used in kitchens as it prevents dirt and bacteria growth, whilst making cleaning easier and quicker. Fire resistant and completely hygienic, the material can be fabricated so that there are no visible signs of joins. The countertop looks as if it is made from a single piece of material, with an integrated sink which also has no obvious join to the worktop.
AM 01 is a kitchen that embodies the technology of the Sanwa Company but is also a piece of furniture that is waiting to be discovered. This original kitchen can be positioned either against the wall or in the middle of a room, and is available with an external covering in either solid coloured lacquered polychrome wood panels, or in three bright colours, available in a variety of designs.
