New Kutchenhaus showroom survey reveals 2024 kitchen requests

An annual survey from German kitchen retailer, Kutchenhaus, has revealed what customers are looking for most in 2024. With respondents from across the brand’s UK franchise partner network taking part, the survey explored the trends that kitchen showroom owners have found so far in 2024, including things such as the most popular kitchen style, appliance, colour and materials.

Handleless styles continue to be most popular

When asked about the most popular kitchen styles which customers are searching for in 2024, 54% of respondents said it was handleless collections that were proving the most sought after. German kitchens are often known for this modern style and this year’s feedback confirmed that they are still the most frequent choice amongst those visiting Kutchenhaus showrooms.

Linda Woodbridge, Kutchenhaus Northallerton, commented: “Customers definitely want a more modern, sleek looking, handleless kitchen, as more and more people are building extensions to make the kitchen more of a social area.”

People are keen on green

43% of respondents referenced green as the most popular colour choice this year when asked what customers were requesting, with blue (32%) coming a close second.

This result means green has overtaken the colour blue as this year’s most popular choice vs last year’s Kutchenhaus survey. This reflects recent trends within the wider industry which suggest the colour is in vogue and has only grown stronger over the past year.

Downdraft hobs are a must-have

When it came to ‘must-have’ appliances, 53% of respondents referenced downdraft hobs as the latest appliance that customers desire most when purchasing a brand-new kitchen.

Downdraft hobs, also known as vented induction hobs, combine an induction hob with an integrated ventilation system which allows for efficient cooking and the extraction of smoke and odours. These products open up more possibilities for interior design in the kitchen, allowing customers to add a personal touch, such as a lighting feature above the kitchen island. A design addition like this can increase the overall aesthetic of the room whilst also becoming a conversation starter for guests.

As for most popular worktop materials,81% of respondents said Quartz was the most common choice with factors such as versatility making it an overwhelming favourite. “Quartz for price, look, and the different options available,” explained Claire Gargaro of Kutchenhaus Bournemouth when stating the reason for her answer.

Nadine Kimani, marketing manager for Kutchenhaus, commented: “It’s both valuable and interesting to gather feedback from our franchise partner network, which helps us understand our consumers’ needs and requirements, as well as what’s trending in the interior design space.

“This year’s survey results are a boost for modern, colourful kitchen spaces. The desire for handleless, clean designs is a continuing trend and it’s what German kitchens are most known for. It’s been clear from the feedback received that this style is what our customers are still seeking, and these designs are often complemented by forward-thinking appliances such as downdraft hobs, which pair perfectly.”

Kutchenhaus is a Trustpilot ‘Excellent’-rated business with showrooms across the UK. The recent survey’s results are based on responses from 32 showrooms which took part. To learn more about Kutchenhaus, please visit: https://uk.kutchenhaus.com/
