New regional chair for the Kbsa

Mark Butler from Butler Interiors has joined the Kbsa board as regional chair for the North Midlands/North West. The appointment was made at the Kbsa AGM which took place virtually on 24 November.

Owner of Roman Bathrooms, Caroline Copper, who joined the board earlier this year to focus on bathrooms was also officially appointed as bathroom retail category chair.

Mark said, “I am delighted to have this opportunity to work with the Kbsa board and give something back to the industry.  The Kbsa plays a vital role in promoting the services of the independent kitchen retailer and has provided invaluable support and advice to retailers during the course of the pandemic”.

“I am passionate about training younger people and look forward to working with the Kbsa to ensure that we encourage trainees into the industry and can provide a clear career path with appropriate education and training.”

The meeting also included updates from the Kbsa team on membership, training and education, finance and marketing. The national chair Richard Hibbert and corporate chair Malcolm Scott also made presentations.

Acting Kbsa CEO Uwe Hanneck reviewed the association’s 5-year strategic plan, outlining the objectives to grow retail membership, increase marketing activities, enhance the business services, and support the Foundation in Kitchen Design and BA (Hons) courses at Bucks New University.

Uwe said, “Despite the challenges we still face from COVID and Brexit, the furniture market is strong and the future is positive for the independent retailer.”
