Pantone unveils Mocha Mousse as Color of the Year 2025

Pantone has officially announced its Color of the Year for 2025, unveiling PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse, a warm, soft brown that evokes the comforting allure of chocolate, coffee, and cacao. The announcement comes as Pantone partners with the iconic lastminute.com London Eye to celebrate the colour’s debut, with the landmark lighting up the London skyline in Mocha Mousse for the first time ever. This marks the start of an exciting global tour showcasing the Colour of the Year.

PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse represents a nurturing, indulgent hue that bridges the natural world with modern sophistication. “Underpinned by our desire for everyday pleasures, Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Sophisticated yet unpretentious, this colour transforms browns from humble to luxurious, offering a discreet touch of glamour that is both earthy and elegant.”

Pantone’s Colour of the Year selection for 2025 speaks to the growing desire for balance and harmony in our lives. Reflecting a deep connection to nature and the world around us, it suggests the comforting embrace of simple pleasures, drawing on the sense of warmth and calm found in chocolate and coffee.

Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute, added, “The quest for harmony is now central to all aspects of life – from our relationships to our environment. Mocha Mousse carries forward the optimism and comfort we saw in PANTONE 13-1023 Peach Fuzz, taking us into a new dimension of serenity.”

Pantone’s global Colour of the Year celebrations will be highlighted by events across major cities like New York, London, Shanghai, and Mumbai. The lastminute.com London Eye’s lighting display at 6pm GMT on 5 December marks the first of many public showcases of Mocha Mousse, inviting everyone to experience the magic of Pantone’s latest shade.
