Sebastian Cox Kitchen – deVol ‘eco & super-chic’

Keeping it perfectly simple in this new Sebastian Cox Kitchen in an uber-stylish eco-friendly home in Camberwell, South London. Sometimes it’s the simplest of designs that make for the most uplifting, calm and beautiful kitchens. deVol Kitchens explain the reasoning behind the installation.

Just one unfussy run of cupboards with an integrated Miele oven and induction hob, dishwasher and elegant tall larder cupboard tucked at the end housing a dreamy pantry and a big fridge/freezer. That was really all that was needed here, avoiding wall cupboards and keeping appliances hidden behind timber doors kept the room feeling uncluttered and airy and light.

The sink area was contemporary and sleek, much like the rest of this envy- inducing home, and featured a couple of gadgets that we really love. Now we normally take a very simple approach to gadgets and gizmos in the kitchen, and always advise our customers to avoid too many and to be selective about their choices – but a Quooker combination tap and an InSinkErator are two genius products that are life-changingly useful and well worth the investment.

The customers chose mainly ‘Natural’ Sebastian Cox kitchen cupboards with a pop of ‘Inky Blue/Black’ for the sink cabinet. This natural look is lovely for people who like an organic feel to their home and it’s very easy to style too. Stacks of crockery and kitchenalia collected over the years would look fabulous, but the simplicity of this kitchen is what made it really special to us.

It’s becoming more important to us all to look after our world and cherish the beauty of nature and not be wasteful or throwaway and the family who lived in this home were particularly passionate about this. The Sebastian Cox kitchen range by deVOL epitomises this way of thinking and living. English sustainable timber, cupboards built here in Leicestershire, and a true lightness of design that is not fashionable, more a lasting piece of furniture that will age beautifully.

The finishing touches to this kitchen were a few classic black Anglepoise wall lights, a cool grey wall and our new obsession, a lovely collection of vintage coloured glassware in the prettiest pink hues. After all, these unique textured and tinted cupboards don’t really need much else, they’re just beautiful all on their own.
