The Haberdasher’s Kitchen by deVOL
DeVol recently completed a kitchen with Haberdasher’s furniture for a Victorian home. Today DeVol’s Creative Director explains how the team blended furniture, appliances and decor to achieve this dreamy space.
We’re quite used to seeing these mid-century-inspired cupboards by deVOL in the moodiest of rooms, but they’re so full of personality and charm when kept really simple. A chalky off-white emulsion on the walls and some classic and vintage accessories. The inclusion of deVOL’s new Grand Tour Desk Lamp on the work surface was nice to see; small lights in the kitchen are such a great idea, they give off a mood like nothing else can.
One handsome run of deVOL’s Haberdasher’s cupboards, a big old wooden table, vintage chapel chairs and a view out to the garden, that’s sometimes all you need to create a beautiful and functional space.
We also included a gorgeous white Lacanche cooker flanked by six base cupboards, integrating the bin, dishwasher, sink and storage. Mostly closed with tactile tambour fronts, one set of open drawers on end and a glazed double door cupboard with delicate, ethereal muslin curtains, is just so pretty and so chic. Paonazzo marble with soft rounded edges and pale pink veining topped the furniture and the lovely shapely splashback was a great decision. Much more original than a plain square of tiles, this little detail has recently popped up in a few deVOL Kitchens.
The marble chequerboard floor is a classic, perhaps not an instant choice to go with deVOL’s Haberdasher’s furniture but in a Victorian house, and mixed with vintage pieces, it was actually a very clever decision.
