Warm tones
“In 2023, we saw the popularity of cooler greys and blues, but as we enter 2024, we’ll see an influx palette of rich browns, deep oranges and muted red. Warm hues bring a sense of comfort to spaces which makes them perfect in creating intimate and inviting living spaces. Think the likes of vibrant mustard or light tones that infuse a warming embrace.
Layering warm-coloured rugs on top of existing flooring is an easy way to introduce warmth without making a permanent change to the flooring itself. Choose rugs in earthy tones like rust, mustard, or deep red to add character and warmth to your living room or bedroom.”
Patterned flooring
“Vibrant and loud patterns are set to make a splash in 2024. Patterns add visual interest and can be used to create unique and stylish designs. Luxury vinyl tiles are a popular choice for those looking to add a touch of elegance and sophistication to their space without spending too much, particularly popular for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, and dining rooms.
When you’re choosing patterned vinyl flooring, it’s best to consider how it’ll fit into your overall design scheme as well as being practical. Start by assessing the existing colour palette, style, and theme of your room, then select patterns that match the theme, such as opting for geometric patterns in modern settings, or going for floral and traditional patterns in keeping with a classic or vintage aesthetic.”
Eco-friendly carpets
“Eco-friendly home decor has been on the rise for the past few years, and it is expected to continue in 2024 as it contributes to a sustainable lifestyle while also helping create a healthier and mindful living environment. This is being implemented in flooring with materials such as wool, reclaimed plastics, and recycled polyester being great eco-friendly options for carpets.
Tapi has an eco-friendly carpet collection, TreadKindly, is created from 100% recycled materials, derived from reclaimed plastic. These lovely carpets are perfect for every room in your house, making them not only environmentally conscious but also sustainable.”
Wide plank flooring
“Another flooring trend that is emerging in 2024 is wide plank flooring. Wider and longer planks are associated with a more rustic aesthetic, which is expected to rise in popularity next year. Wide plank flooring showcases the natural grain and character of the wood providing warmth and richness as well as making the room appear more spacious.
Install the planks diagonal or perpendicular to the longest wall in the room to give the room a wider look. To enhance the visual interest of the planks, use contrasting or complementary materials for borders. This look would work in any area of your home, but living rooms in particular as it creates a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. Tapi stock a range of herringbone patterns available in vinyl, laminate and luxury vinyl.”
Natural, light, and raw wood tones
“With homeowners being increasingly conscious of the environment, flooring with natural shades like oak and walnut helps them connect to the environment. Incorporating lighter shades also gives the space a minimalistic look that can be paired with any type of interior style, giving freedom to add maximalist elements without the space feeling cramped.
Scandinavian interiors or a coastal chic design would pair well with natural, light wood-toned flooring, giving the space a minimalistic look. This would work well for smaller and darker spaces that require lighting such as hallways.”
