Virtual Worlds awards shortlist

Virtual Worlds has made the shortlist in the In-Store Technology of the Year and Most Disruptive Retail Technology categories at the prestigious Retail Systems Awards, for its 4D Theatre. With the winners to be announced during a gala dinner in London in June, the Awards aim to recognise excellence in technology and innovation within the retail sector.

Previously the domain of the gaming and film-making industries, virtual reality has now arrived in the kbb sector, helping retailers stand out from the crowd and offering consumers a unique buying experience that ultimately leads to increased sales.

The very first of its kind in the industry, 4D Theatre from Virtual Worlds delivers a high quality, virtual reality and interactive buying experience allowing users to realise a 4D simulation of physically being in their dream kitchen or bathroom. 4D Theatre, is unique in that the room simulations are a seamless extension of its core Virtual Worlds Professional CAD system, with the conventional controller replaced with a specially designed headset, allowing customers to maneuver around the space simply by walking in real life. They can even reach out to interact with objects using their hands, for a fully immersive experience.

“At a time when independent retailers need to look beyond the norm if they are to compete with the likes of the DIY sheds and online shopping, 4D technology engages customers on a whole new level,” comments Virtual Worlds Managing Director Nathan Maclean. “We are delighted to be shortlisted in two categories in the Retail Systems Awards and look forward to the finalists being announced.”
